ALUMNI ASTRAL AWARD
The YoungArts Alumni Astral Award is part of our commitment to explore and develop programs that enhance the opportunities available to promising artists.
This Award provides financial assistance for a specific project that will enhance an individual’s artistic and professional growth. NFAA awards two Alumni
Astral Award up to $2500 each during the given award period. Awards are NOT rewarded for living expenses, travel, or further studies.
Eligibility
The Alumni Astral Award is available to all NFAA YoungArts Alumni with the exception of those winners from the past 5 years. For the 2009 award, the eligible classes are all YoungArts Alumni from or before the class of 2004.
Award Requirements
The monies awarded for the Alumni Astral Award must be used for a specific project beginning no later than October 23 of the award year. A final report must be submitted to NFAA by the following June 31st.
Application Requirements
In order to apply for the 2009 Alumni Astral Award application materials must be RECEIVED by YoungArts NO LATER THAN September 15, 2009. Applicants will be notified of the results by October, 31 2009.
Required materials include:

- Current Biography and Headshot
- Support Documentation (i.e. copies of any receipts/contracts for services related to the project, any literature printed/distributed about the project, etc.)
- Letter of recommendation from professionals
Keep copies of all materials submitted as your application materials will NOT be returned

Review Process
The 2009 Alumni Astral Award will be reviewed by YoungArts Staff Members and Leadership. Reviewers will evaluate the applications using the following criteria:
- Evidence that the proposed project is an extension of the artist’s work and is crucial to artistic and professional growth
- Level of professional commitment as demonstrated in the artist’s resume
- Specificity and clarity of proposal
- Inclusion of support documents
