WMC vs. UMF

Ultra has always looked to engage in exclusive contracts with major DJs.  Monopolizing DJs from WMC (Winter Music Conference) so they are only allowed to play at Ultra (Ultra Music Festival) in Bicentennial Park Miami Florida. In previous years they have been able to do so with such big names like Tiesto, Dead Mau5, Guetta, Carl Cox and Armin.

About ‘The Catch’ here in Miami

Miami is not only the happy home of the prestigious YoungArts week, but also home to The Catch Collective, a group of young artists who exhibit every month in their own gallery in Miami’s art district. What makes The Catch different from the other galleries on their street in Wynwood is that its president and exhibiting artists are all high school seniors.

The Art of 5-7-5!

What makes something a piece of ‘art’? Is it length, size, or the aesthetic appeal of a certain object? I doubt that because anyone can see “artistic” value in almost anything. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and there is definitely something I find interesting about haikus. So why do I like these 5-7-5 liners—because they are simple, easy to create, and can convey your meaning in just 17 syllables.

Knight Arts Challenge Application Deadline Tomorrow!

Here at the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, we’re proud to have received support from the Knight Arts Challenge. We’re using their support to design and implement regional programming here in Miami, and expanding the reach of our YoungArts program to more and more students, cultivating the relationships high school students develop with the arts.
