YoungArts alumna Sarah Paulson (1993 Winner in Theater) won her first Emmy as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series for her role as Marcia Clark in the FX series “The People v. O.J. Simpson,” which also took home the award for Outstanding Limited Series.

Paulson, who was also nominated as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or a Movie for her role in “American Horror Story: Hotel,” attended the award ceremony together with the real Marcia Clark.

During her acceptance speech, Paulson paid tribute to her cast members and used her time onstage to publicly apologize to Clark for misperceiving her, as much of the public did, during the O.J. Simpson trial. Paulson’s outstanding performance as Clark re-framed the narrative of the often ridiculed prosecutor.
