On October 5, 2016 YoungArts kicked off the season’s Los Angeles programming with the first edition of the Salon Series featuring American artist and filmmaker Doug Aitken (1986 YoungArts Winner in Visual Arts) at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
Over the last 20 years, Aitken has explored sculpture, film, installations and architectural interventions to reflect our ever-changing contemporary condition. In an intimate conversation with Kerry Brougher, the first director of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures currently being constructed in Los Angeles, Aitken discussed his interest in the empowerment of the viewer, his defying of standards of conventional art as well as other topics pertaining to his new exhibition “Electric Earth,” the most comprehensive exhibition of Aitken’s work to date, which will be on display until January 15, 2017 at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA.
