YoungArts Miami 2017 was a week filled with highlights as winners across all 10 disciplines experienced master classes, collaborated, and shared their work with their peers, families, and local art enthusiasts in an exhibition with performances on the YoungArts Campus and at Miami Theater Center.
We had a quick chat with one of this year’s master teachers in Design Arts, fashion designer Naeem Khan:
How was your experience teaching at YoungArts for the first time?
I am so happy! The students are intriguing and curious. It was not just teaching fashion, it was also teaching philosophy. To me, it was about getting deeper into fashion as art and art as fashion, and how, if you are a stable person, it can be a success for you. I never really had that coversation with anybody before. It was wonderful.
You are currently in the process of bringing more of your own business to Miami. What does it mean to be in the city and be part of YoumgArts?
To me, being connected to the rest of the arts in Miami is very important. I am a fashion designer, and fashion and other arts all go hand-in-hand.
