Alumni Spotlight

In our eleventh Alumni Spotlight Video, we interview YoungArts alumnus Billy Bell (2008, Dance) from So You Think You Can Dance, who just recently started his own dance company, the Lunge Dance Collective.

In this spotlight, Billy shares: "YoungArts was an integral part of me maturing as an artist.  It took me to that next professional level, where I felt that I was making that actual transfer from a student to a professional artist. I think that is the most beneficial part of the entire program."

Blog Spotlight

In this blog spotlight, 2013 YoungArts Winner in Photography Isobella Stanton shares a story she wrote for her school's art department.

"…the second I arrived at the YoungArts headquarters I could feel the energy. Not only was every person passionate about art, but they were all incredibly talented. I think that at Porters, I have sometimes felt different from other students because I don’t want to be a doctor or an engineer or some other physics thing- my passion lays in art. Before Miami, I had never met so many people who had the same level of passion as me, and suddenly I was surrounded by it."

"This passion is what turned me around.  In my time at YoungArts, I learned to push artistic boundaries and to try new things, while still feeling completely supported and understood by my peers. "  Read more

The National YoungArts Foundation identifies and supports the next generation of artists, and contributes to the cultural vitality of the nation by investing in the artistic development of emerging young talent in the visual, literary and performing arts.   YoungArts alumni who have gone on to become leaders in their field include actresses Viola Davis and Kerry Washington; musician Jennifer Koh; choreographer Desmond Richardson; and acclaimed multimedia artist Doug Aitken.
