Message to Educators
Dear Educator,
On behalf of the staff of YoungArts, thank you for the many ways you support the drive, ambition and focus in young people, which conveys the message that they can succeed in the arts. Your commitment to encouraging the capabilities of young artists will help them achieve the highest levels of excellence in their discipline and ensure the future of the arts in our society.
By encouraging your students to apply to the YoungArts program, you set them on the path to a program of excellence that is founded in active learning, in and through the arts, with a 31-year history of recognizing young talent. By preparing and organizing application materials for our program, students are assembling a portfolio that can be used for college scholarship applications, in addition to preparing them to present themselves as artists. If selected as a national winner, your students can benefit from the unique and exciting experiences that YoungArts offers including:
-
Exclusive U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts nominations
-
Master classes with world-renowned artists
-
Access to scholarships, career opportunities and professional contacts
-
$500,000 in total monetary awards
At a time when funding for arts programming is diminishing and more and more is being demanded of educators, YoungArts recognizes the need for continued support of you and your students. To that end, we have teamed up with Columbia University’s Teachers College to develop a study guide suitable for middle and high school students that will be distributed free of charge in fall 2012. Look for more information in the coming months about this exciting new teaching tool that highlights the universal skills that students who are pursuing the arts learn and apply to other areas of their lives.

Thank you for your support and for the very important role that you play in the lives of young artists.
Sincerely,
Paul T. Lehr
