YoungArts Los Angeles Celebration

YoungArts is expanding outreach in Los Angeles with the goal of developing a Regional Program that will support, celebrate and provide unique life-changing opportunities for aspiring artists in Southern California. To kick things off we presented an original performance of national YoungArts alumni in celebration of excellence in the arts on November 2nd at The Colburn School’s Thayer Hall and on November 3rd at the Steven J. Ross Theater at Warner Bros. Studios. Audiences made up of parents, teachers and community members were treated to an interdisciplinary show created especially for LA audiences featuring 10 young artists who are from, study or work in California. The cast and creative team finished their run with 2 school day shows on November 4th at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center. Close to 600 arts students from 19 different Los Angeles Unified School District high schools came out to see the performance and learn about the YoungArts Program.

YoungArts Invites You to YoungArts Florida Celebration 2011!

For the first time ever, this year’s YoungArts winners from across the state of Florida and shared the stage at YoungArts Florida Celebration 2011-- a FREE public performance that showcased how collaboration across disciplines can strengthen an artist’s work.

The weekend long event began with the 2011 YoungArts winners from Florida work shopping interdisciplinary material that was developed into a performance and exhibition using dance, film, music, voice, jazz, theater, visual art and writing. Participants experienced how collaboration can offer an artist the opportunity to step out of his or her comfort zone to strengthen and expand artistic vision and craft. Afterwards, YoungArts alumna Yara Travieso, 2005 Winner in Dance, showcased her newest dance collaboration, SET, which premiered at the New World Center on May 11, and a short documentary created by YoungArts alumnus James Duarte shared the behind the scenes activity that created SET.

The Sunday afternoon performance at the state of the art New World Center was attended by friends, family and the general public and was a showcase of the talent and diversity of the young artists from the state of Florida.
