Paloma Valencia (2015 Winner in Visual Arts)

On July 18, 2017, YoungArts alumna Paloma Valencia (2015 Winner in Visual Arts) met with the young artists of the PAMM Teen Arts Council (PTAC) at Pérez Art Museum Miami to introduce them to YoungArts and let them know more about opportunities that come with being a winner and alumnus of the program.
During the visit, Paloma shared her own YoungArts story and experience, inspired the teenage artists to apply to YoungArts, familiarized them with the application process, answered questions, and provided portfolio preparation advice.
"One of the greatest gifts that being part of YoungArts has given me is a real professional circle of friends that I truly connect with. I wanted to share my experience and had a lot of fun doing the presentation for the PAMM Teen Arts Council. I wanted to do it because I had such a great experience during my YoungArts Week! I gave them tips that I found helpful and wish I knew when I was applying to YoungArts - about time management, getting feedback from teachers, taking risks and applying in multiple disciplines. The students were so engaged and very good at listening. I found it really easy to relate to them!"
As a national organization, YoungArts promotes the arts as a viable and rewarding career path to young artists across the US. Whether actors, choreographers, composers, dancers, designers, filmmakers, musicians, painters, photographers, sculptors, or singers, YoungArts identifies and nurtures the most accomplished young artists and assists them at critical junctures in their educational and professional development.
